Sami Al Ghawi

  • Born in 1971, Sami Al-Ghawi is a celebrated Omani calligrapher who learned under the direction of masters Hasan Celebi and Mehmet Ozcay. He is a member of Omani Society of Fine Arts and a Founding member of the International Union for Arabic Calligraphy and Islamic illumination. In 2007 He was invited for a month-long residency by the Sultan Qaboos cultural center in Washington D.C to give lectures on Arabic calligraphy and Islamic art. Among his many accolades are multiple awards at the Arabic calligraphy and fine arts exhibition in Muscat and the top prize at the Visual arts exhibition in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. His work has been exhibited in many countries including Oman, Kuwait, UAE, Turkey and KSA.
