Ali Akbar Esmaeeili

  • Iranian master Ali Akbar Esmaeili Ghoochani was born in 1944 in Ghoochan, where he learned calligraphy under Abdulhossein Tofighi. After moving to Tehran he benefitted from the tutelage of Hassan Mirkhani, Najafi Zanjani and others. His style of Nastaliq is an homage to his mentor Hassan Mirkhani, and he is adept at multiple styles of calligraphy. He wrote Quran on a 40-meter scroll. His work has appeared on holy shrines in Isfahan, Shiraz, Tehran, Hamburg and France and he’s currently inscribing on the new shrine of Imam Hussain. He’s written multiple books on Calligraphy and has inscribed renowned literary and religious texts.
