Born in 1937 in the city of Mashhad, Iranian master Abbas Akhoein took up calligraphy at the age of 20 and learned it under Ali Agha Hosseini, Ali Akbar Kaveh, Hassan Mirkhani, among others. A founding member of Iran calligraphers’ society, He has been part of the committee of calligraphy experts at Iran’s ministry of culture and a sought after teacher to multiple generations. His work includes transcribing some of Iran’s greatest works of literature, Authorship of multiple calligraphy books and more than 50 individual and collective exhibitions in Iran, Syria, Kuwait, UAE to name a few.
